Caring is a good thing.
Wanting to know what is happening shows that you care. You can stay informed and still protect your calm. Both belong together.
Stay informed
a few trusted sources, at set times
Stay well
a body that softens, a kind act nearby
Four habits, front page to back.
When the news is loud02
Habit 01 · routine
Choose your editions.
Pick one or two set times to catch up, like a morning and an evening paper. In between, let headlines wait for their turn.
Morning edition
ten minutes, then on with the day
Evening edition
well before bedtime
In between: quiet hours, all yours.
When the news is loud03
Habit 02 · attention
Turn the dial down.
Choose one or two trusted sources instead of many feeds. Switch off alerts you do not need. Less volume, the same knowledge.
feedsalertsnoise
Two good sources beat twenty loud ones.
When the news is loud04
Habit 03 · body
Then check in with your body.
After reading, pause. Notice your jaw, your shoulders, your hands. Let each one soften. Then stand up and stretch before the next thing.
Jaw
unclench
Shoulders
drop down
Hands
open wide
Stand, reach, smile.
When the news is loud05
Habit 04 · action
Do one kind, close thing.
Big stories can make anyone feel small. Balance them with one real act nearby. Small and local is powerful.

Remember
The world needs you rested.
Fold the paper, close the tab, and come back tomorrow. If the news feels heavy, talking with someone you trust, or a professional, is always a good step.
