Your light
needs oil too.

Caring is love in action, and it uses energy. Refilling yours is part of the care, not a break from it. Small moments really count.

A sip of water.
A slow stretch.
A kind word.
Each one tops you up.

Lantern 01 · routine

Your own
cup first.

Before the next task, take one minute that is only for you: a warm drink, a stretch, a look out of the window. Tiny refills add up over a day.

One minute, many times a day.

Lantern 02 · writing

Set down
the guilt.

Write the guilty thought on one slip. On the next, write what a good friend would say back. Hang them side by side and read the kind one twice.

"I should be doing more."
"You are doing so much, and with so much love."

Lantern 03 · talk

Ask for one
clear thing.

People often want to help but do not know how. Give them one clear, small task with a day and a time. Saying yes to help is a gift to them too.

"Could you sit with Mum on Thursday afternoon, from two till four?"

Lantern 04 · senses

A ten minute
shelf.

Keep a small shelf or bag of comforts ready: a favourite tea, a soft scarf, a song you love, a hand cream that smells good. When ten minutes appear, you are ready.

Remember

Your light
matters too.

The love you give is real, and you deserve some back. Talking with someone you trust, a carers' group or a professional is always a good step.
